Lake Somerset
Situated only one hour's drive north-west of Brisbane, 10 minutes
from the town of Kilcoy, Lake Somerset Holiday Park is the perfect
getaway for water sports enthusiasts. Offering powered and camping
sites, one rustic log cabin, barbecues, modern amenities, three
boat ramps, top freshwater fishing, waterskiing, sailing, swimming,
jetskiing and wakeboarding. The 45 hectare park has a fun and friendly
environment to unwind, relax and enjoy with family and friends.
It is accessed from the road that connects Kilcoy with the town
of Esk.
Lake Somerset Holiday Park offers a relaxed 45 hectare family friendly
environment for camping and watersports, providing unpowered sites,
modern amenities, electric BBQ's, 3 boat ramps, sporting oval and
a kiosk stocking drinks, snacks, ice, gas and limited grocery items.
Also available for bookings is our rustic log cabin. This cabin
overlooks the lake and sleeps up to 8 persons. It has a full kitchen
and bathroom as well as colour television and ceiling fans. Outside
the cabin is a wood BBQ for al fresco cooking in the hotter months.
To the south of the town is the Lake Somerset Dam which was started
in 1935. It was first used to supplement Brisbane's water supply
in 1943 and it was completed in 1959. It has a catchment area of
340 sq km and an area of 8 100 hectares. It extends 56 km upstream
from the dam wall. The drive from Kilcoy to Esk around the foreshores
of Lake Somerset is really delightful. There are many excellent
viewing points and picnic places around the edge of the dam. There
is also an attractive drive which can be taken by crossing over
the river south of Lake Somerset Dam and heading towards Wivenhoe. |
