Lake Somerset Holiday Park
Lake Somerset Holiday Park is located on the shores of Lake Somerset,
about 1 hour northwest from Brisbane Airport. It is a short 10-15
minute drive south of the nearby town of Kilcoy. It is accessed
from the road that connects Kilcoy with the town of Esk.
Lake Somerset Holiday Park offers a relaxed 45 hectare family friendly
environment for camping and watersports, providing unpowered sites,
modern amenities, electric BBQ's, 3 boat ramps, sporting oval and
a kiosk stocking drinks, snacks, ice, gas and limited grocery items.
Also available for bookings is our rustic log cabin. This cabin
overlooks the lake and sleeps up to 8 persons. It has a full kitchen
and bathroom as well as colour television and ceiling fans. Outside
the cabin is a wood BBQ for al fresco cooking in the hotter months.
Lake Somerset is the perfect location for all your favourite watersports
including fishing, waterskiing, sailing and swimming.
Lake Somerset Accomodation and Camping
Camping is available at Kirkleagh Tourist Park where some great
facilities are provided including gas hot water showers, electric
Bar B Qs, picnic shelters, drinking water & lots of room!
Camping is also permitted at Somerset Park (below the Somerset Dam
wall). A SEQWCorp camping permit is required at both camping areas.
These are available at the kiosk at Kirkleagh or the Rangers Station
next to the wall lookout, just below the wall. For further enquiries
on boating & camping fees call the SEQWCorp on 07 5426 0188. There
are various accomodation services; motel, hotel etc locally in Kilcoy
and Esk.
Boating at Lake Somerset Holiday Park
All forms of boating are allowed but a SEQWCorp permit is required
for all trailerable vessels. There are 6 lanes of concrete launching
ramp at Kirkleagh + a well maintained gravel ramp that is used at
low water levels. There is a double laned ramp at The Spit (near the
dam wall) + another single lane concrete ramp that becomes uncovered
when water levels drop below approximately 75%.
Access to Lake Somerset Holiday Park
Access to the reacreational areas and boat ramps is during daylight
hours only unless you are already camped at Kirkleagh Holiday Park.
If you planning to arrive at Kirkleagh early in the morning you
can telephone ahead to get a pin number for the boom gate to allow
you access before the gate house is openned at 7.00am.
Situated only one hour's drive north-west of Brisbane, 10 minutes
from the town of Kilcoy, Lake Somerset Holiday Park is the perfect
